About Our Daily Bread Community Outreach Services (ODBCOS)
History
Our Daily Bread Community Outreach Services (ODBCOS) was founded by Anthony M. Rivera who sought the need to provide access to food for food insecure children; particularly, homeless, low-income, and needy children. He discovered this need while volunteering at a homeless shelter when the shelter director indicated to him that there were not enough organizations in the City of Phoenix addressing the hunger issue of such children. This in itself became the staple of the overall mission of ODBCOS
So, he took it upon himself to get involved and create a foundation, reach out, and intervene to address the hunger, self -sustainability, and educational needs of needy children and their families within his community. Thus, Our Daily Bread Community Outreach Services (ODBCOS) was born and is now a Non-profit organization. ODCBOS has a Board of Directors that advises them on key operational and decision making processes as they relate to the organization.
Organizational Vision
The long term organizational vision includes building two facilities within the Phoenix metropolitan area. These facilities will be strategically and geographically anchored within the most neglected and poverty stricken areas of Phoenix. ODBCOS will own and operate these facilities. The facilities will be equipped with food banks, administrative offices, classrooms, community gardens, and licensed kitchens to effectively address the hunger of food insecure persons, children, and their families; and actively teach self-sustainability. Each facility will also offer a postsecondary education scholarship thru community service with ODBCOS.
Mission Statement
Our Daily Bread Community Outreach Services will serve as a catalyst in bringing organizations and groups together in collaborative partnerships, to leverage resources in order to to effectively address the hunger of food insecure persons, children, and their families; and to effectively address the self-sustainability, and educational needs of homeless, low-income, needy, and at-risk children within our community.
